The Virginia Players and UVA Department of Drama presents The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown, under the direction of Wesley Diener and to be performed in the Helms Theatre.
An emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years, the show’s unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically. This production features a unique, ephemeral diversion from the musical’s traditional staging that reveals new layers of drama, love, and intrigue.
Seating, which is unticketed General Admission, will begin 30 minutes before the show begins. Please arrive early to ensure a seat, as we expect to fill the theatre’s limited occupancy.
